1. Important addresses
Whether you come by plane, bus, car, bike or bare foot, you all have something in common: on Saturday the 20th everyone has to be at the Church in Sárszentlörinc. So lets start with some important addresses:
The address of the gymnasium and the dorm:
Kossuth Lajos street 4
7150 Bonyhad
Hungary
The address of the church:
Petofi Sandor street 45
7047 Sarszentlorinc
Hungary
2. How to go to Hungary?
The first thing to make sure is that you get to Hungary. We will get back later to the transport in Hungary.
So how to get there? Unless you want to take something with you bigger than yourself, we recommend flying. There are two options; you can take a low-fare flight or come by a standard-fare airline.
The destination is Budapest in both cases.
Low-fare airlines:
Keep in mind that going by a low-fare airline you often have to make compromises like the size of the luggage, the price of the ticket is excl. food, the airport may be in a smaller town, etc.
We always go for Wizzair. The lowest price we've paid for a retour was €21! Even though it was in march and not in the summer, the prices in august are still much lower than standard-fare prices.
Standard-fare airlines:
These flights are more expensive in general but they offer more options as well. You get food, the personnel is serving you (instead of trying to sell you chinese stuff for a sky-price), you can take bigger luggage and fly from well known airports instead of some runway in the back of some garden (excuse me Eindhoven).
Do you prefer going by bus? Eurolines is a well known company with lots of options.
3. How to get from Budapest to the wedding?
Depending on the day and time you arrive there are a few travel options.
In general the handiest option is renting a car or taking your own car. If you come by car, have some seats left and are willing to take someone with you, please tell us! In case you have a car you can travel whenever you want and you don't need to read any further.
Friday
If you would like to travel on Friday we advice you to go by bus from Budapest to Bonyhád. The bus departs from Nepliget (station in Budapest) and the journey takes 2,5-3,5 hours, depending on the bus you take. You can plan the trip and find all information on www.menetrendek.hu. The website is not accessible in english so please let us know if you need help using it!
On Saturday the bus that we hired will bring you to the church.
Saturday
If you plan to travel on Saturday it is also possible to travel by bus but a better option is to go by train from Budapest to Nagydorog. In this way your travel will be about 2.5 hours instead of 5 by bus (first by bus to Bonyhad and then another bus to Sarszentlorinc, lot of time).
If you come by train, let us know at what exact time you will arrive, because someone will have to pick you up. On this website you can plan your train journey https://www.mavcsoport.hu/en. There are 2 trainstations in Budapest from which you could depart (Déli & Keleti). The number of changes and travel time differ.
But maybe the best solution is to travel together with some others who come by car from Budapest. If you would like that, please let us know. Then we will try to find someone who can take you.
